This week I decided to try something new. I know, I know, "If it ain't broke..."... But what the heck? Worth a shot. I decided that this week I will not be afraid to say "No". I will not be afraid to admit that I am not perfect. If I don't know the answer, I will say so. If I burn all 6 dozen cookies, oh well. (Oh yes, that happened).
The hilarious part is the way other people react to this exercise in assertion. The moment of shock and the look of sheer confusion on their face is priceless. However, even more priceless is the feeling of freedom that you get from being in charge... of you. The details are irrelevant (although, it could be that I am choosing NOT to type it out and go to sleep. See?! Assertion!) but the message is the same.
My mother always says: "Don't make a mountain out of a molehill". I think she stole it from one of those AM radio talk show hosts that they put on AM radio because NO ONE (except my mother) wants to hear them talk, but it makes sense. If it really isn't the end of the world, just let it go.
One incredibly important key to successful breastfeeding is to RELAX. If you are tense and uptight and stressed your baby will feel it. Your "let down" reflex will resist against it. So if you didn't get a chance to vacuum (again), you don't want to bake 40 dozen cookies for the church bake sale, you can't find your husbands lucky softball socks - DON'T. Besides, if he has to find them himself, he might just wash them himself. Just sayin'!!
