So my website is finally live! I can hardly believe that this business was only an idea 3 months ago! I am so grateful to everyone that has been supportive of us. If you lovingly smiled while choking down a burnt cookie, asked "what is that taste?" when we were eating meatloaf, stood with me in a store as I proceed to knock down an entire display of oatmeal cans or just let me cry on your shoulder - then this is you.
As I look back over the last two years, I have not only started a business that is going to help millions of women, I have become a better person - a better mom. Believe in your dreams and they MAY come true; believe in yourself and they WILL come true! Cookies, Then Milk! is a concept that came directly from my heart. My goal is to reach the lives of women across America (and one day... the world!) and be a source of strength and support during their breastfeeding journey.
No matter what ANYONE says, breastfeeding is NOT easy. You have to change your schedule, you have to expand your "comfort zone", you get less sleep, you get less alone time, you get less family time. You have to drink tons of water, find the right nursing pads, find the right nursing clothes! Sometimes you have to change every single thing you eat. You have to deal with comments from family, comments from strangers, even your own wondering of how long exactly you will nurse. Your baby is hungry, you nurse. That is not an easy job. Breastfeeding moms are champions. They are strong and dedicated people.
Since I started this venture I have heard from many bottle feeding moms that say "I would have breastfed, but I COULDN'T because......". My goal behind this blog, this website, this business itself is not to lecture and especially not to demean these moms. My sole purpose is to support breastfeeding moms with nursing for the first time (or second, or third!), maintaining a supply when times get tough or even relactating when they think they are "out" of milk.
If you have any questions about what we do, or just about breastfeeding, please ask. I am here to provide emotional support as well as tangible. My (technological) doors are always open.
Remember, breast milk is Nature's perfect food for every baby. If you can keep breastfeeding, just ONE more day, you are giving your baby the best gift you will ever give.
